Beauty in things exists in the mind which contemplates them.

What was the defining moment in your past that set you on the career path you ended up following?

I have always been in love with all things beauty and skin. When I was younger, I would make homemade masks and potions from plants out of my mother’s garden. While in high school my mother took me to Dallas to meet a woman entrepreneur by the name of Renee Rouleau, A celebrity skin guru whom had also created her own skincare line. I recall being completely in awe of the serene surroundings inside her spa. The ambiance & scents are something I will never forget. She was helping women look & feel their best, I knew then that I too someday would do the exact same.

What makes you unique in your industry?

In the Aesthetic industry, every practitioner has their own unique way of seeing and treating the face. I always aim to enhance my patient’s beauty with the most natural looking outcome in mind. At Nova, the uniqueness we bring is that we strive to get to know all our patients on a more personal level. We love the comfort it brings while receiving services some might feel anxious about.

What is one way you hope to impact your community in the future, either personally or professionally?

The major impact I hope to make in my profession would be to inspire women to have a healthier self-image and view on aging. Our society currently fosters a fear of aging which facilitates women of all ages to over-scrutinize their appearance. I strive to promote self-awareness with my patients of the parts about their appearance that they love. From that point, we can create enhancements around those features that forge a finer self-image.

If you could sit down with any woman in the world–either from history or who is currently living–who would that be and what would you discuss with her?

Frida Kahlo. I admire the way she defied the standards of female beauty. I would love to discuss what motivated her to feel comfortable not fitting in with the norm, and how she had so much self-confidence during a time that held a strong stereotype for women.
