My personal mission is to rewrite children’s futures by helping children overcome traumatic events such as homelessness, abuse and bullying.

What was the defining moment in your past that set you on the career path you ended up following?
Having grown up facing multiple traumatic events and overcoming them to become the woman I am today, I’d say my defining moment was realizing my purpose and having the courage to share my story so that I could help children all over the world that were facing the same traumatic events I experienced as a child. It took me over twenty years to find that courage and once I did I was able to stand on a stage in confidence of my mission and truly help make a change in children’s lives, which led me to being crowned your Mrs. Texas International 2019.

What makes you unique in your industry?
The pageant industry has given me many life skills throughout the past 30 years, but it has also taught me strength, poise, confidence and courage. Pageantry has led me to my unique purpose of my mission and I think that’s what makes the experience of this industry so special and personalized to each woman that has her own journey within it.

What is one way you hope to impact your community in the future, either personally or professionally?
My mission as Mrs. Texas is to continue to travel internationally to work with organizations that are helping children that are facing traumatic events. I recently visited organizations in Thailand and the Bahamas. Being able to meet children from other countries that just may need to see that there is success after trauma is a small part I can play in giving them confidence to overcome. In addition, my mission is to bring awareness and funds to these organizations by introducing them to the “Sock-it” campaign through my partnership with a sock company, DeadSoxy. Deadsoxy has launched a non-profit element within the business and I’m excited to help grow this new program and introduce new organizations to it. Within my first four months as Mrs. Texas we have new organizations involved and I looked forward to increasing those numbers throughout my reign. If you could sit down with any woman in the world–either from history or who is currently living–who would that be and what would you discuss with her?
I’d have to choose a woman from my personal history, my sister Meghan, who died of SIDS when I was 3 years old. I’d love nothing more than to see her at this point in our lives and see who she grew up to be, if only for a moment.
