Recently The Science Mill in Johnson City hosted a sneak peek for a select group of donors and fundraisers of its newest exhibit, an Aquaponics Greenhouse. Guests had the opportunity to bid on world-class, nature-themed fine artwork donated by 37 nationally and locally recognized artists. Attendees of note include actress Jennie Garth Beverly Hills, 90210 and American singer-song writer Carrie Rodriguez. At the fundraiser, Come Grow With Us, guests were the first to see the 1,000-square-foot space, in which tropical plants and animal life surround visitors, giving them an up-close look at alternative methods of food production. The movement of water throughout the Greenhouse will display the interconnectedness of fish, plants, microbes and nutrients and help students understand healthy eating and living concepts. We love that.

All proceeds from the event helped the Science Mill grow its nonprofit mission to empower kids to follow a love of science learning. We love that the Science Mill, located in Johnson City, is a year-round family destination offering a fun, interactive learning environment for visitors of all ages. Through cutting-edge technology-based exhibits, games and programs, the Science Mill expands students’ understanding and appreciation of science in their everyday lives. By igniting their curiosity and inspiring them to pursue post-secondary education, the Science Mill experience starts students on a path to pursue a career in STEM.
