The Order Of The Alamo Hosts Court of Monumental Discovery Coronation At Fiesta

THE SETTING: With the celebration of San Antonio’s beloved Fiesta events and traditions, the Order of the Alamo presented the Court of Monumental Discoveryin a dazzling ceremony staged at the enchanting Majestic Theater

THE STYLE: This year’s theme transported spectators on an epic visual adventure that focused on actual discoveries and inventions that have shaped our lives. Whether born out of necessity or curiosity, with intentionality or creative genius, these inspirations have enormous cultural significance and have made our world a better place. We are the beneficiaries of these great works that have marked human evolution for centuries as they have positively affected all of our lives.

The Mistress of the Robes, Francie Calgaard, worked tirelessly alongside dressmakers to bring the elaborate vision of each masterpiece to fruition…and to add an element of fun to the gowns. Under Calgaard’s leadership, the creative team began designing the court’s 26 Queen, Princess, and Duchess dresses and robes for many months before the coronation ceremony. The Court Artists were Wendy Goetting and Amy White.

The Queen of the Court of Monumental Discovery was Carlyle (Carly) Fuhrmann, the daughter of Joy Fuhrmann of San Antonio and the late Triple Fuhrmann. She was attended by Princess Mollie Kelleher, the daughter of Kathy and David Kelleher of San Antonio, along with 24 duchesses from San Antonio, Dallas, Houston, and beyond. The 2024 President of the Order of the Alamo was Eric Reblin. The Coronation Chairman was Charles Jeffers,while Kurt Steves served as Lord High Chamberlain. 

THE PURPOSE: Fiesta was founded in 1891 as a one-time parade event to honor the members of the heroes of the Alamo and the Battle of San Jacinto. Now, the Fiesta® San Antonio Commission Inc. is a nonprofit, volunteer, self-supporting organization that plans, promotes, coordinates, and preserves Fiesta San Antonio through the support of its participating member organizations in presenting a safe, educational, annual celebration of the diverse heritage, culture, and spirit of San Antonio for its residents and visitors.
